Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks and your skills could be just what we need.

At Leeds South and East Foodbank, our fantastic volunteers make our work possible in supporting people in crisis or trapped in poverty. From the warehouse to the food bank centres – and everything in between! – volunteers are involved in delivering all aspects of our services.

You don’t need any specific skills for most of our volunteer roles and we will train you for whichever role you decide to take on. If you are interested in joining our team and helping us towards a hunger free community, then take a look at our Wanted List.

If you would like to speak to someone about any of these roles, then please contact the office on 0113 277 2229 or email [email protected]

We look forward to welcoming you to the team!

For Corporate volunteering please see our Support Us page.

Volunteer Driver

You’ll play an important role in promptly transporting food from collection points to the warehouse for sorting, and finally onto the local food bank, which will help to make a real difference in your community. A confident and safe driver, you’ll enjoy being part of a team and be physically strong so that you can lift and load crates of food. Your flexible and committed approach will help to maximise donations and improve the efficiency of the food bank.

Volunteer Warehouse Assistant

Acting as the link between food donations coming in and reaching those in crisis, you’ll support the smooth running of your local food bank. You’ll be part of a team sorting and packing food and additional items in the warehouse. You’ll be organised and have an eye for detail; this includes checking, weighing and recording stock and sorting food by date and type. This is a physical role as you’ll be on your feet a lot and you must be comfortable with some heavy lifting and maintaining a clean and safe warehouse.
