Lent Appeal 2026

10th February 2026

Over the next six weeks, as churches observe the season of Lent, Leeds South and East Food Bank will be providing emergency food parcels to individuals and families across our community who are experiencing hardship.

Rising living costs continue to place enormous pressure on people already struggling to make ends meet. As a result, more people are turning to food banks for support, while the donations we rely on are not keeping pace with the growing need.

It isn’t right that each year more people are facing hunger and uncertainty.

We’re asking the local community to help if they are able, by donating food so that we can continue to be there for everyone who needs us. You might choose to give 40p for each of the 40 days of Lent, or take part in a Lent donation calendar. Every contribution, no matter the size, is genuinely valued and makes a real difference.

Our top five most-needed items at this time are:

  • Tinned Potatoes

  • Tinned Fruit

  • UHT Milk

  • Tinned Vegetables

  • Chocolate (Easter eggs are especially welcome, so we can offer families a small treat during a difficult time)

If you’re able to help, please drop donations off at one of our collection points, which can be found here.

If donating food isn’t possible, you can also support us financially. Details of how to donate online in a range of ways are available here.

Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
