Christmas Parcel Appeal 2024

19th November 2024

Can you help donate festive food to help Leeds South and East Foodbank bring joy to local families in crisis this Christmas?

Leeds South and East Foodbank is asking local people to help bring festive cheer to families struggling to eat this Christmas by donating festive food items to the food bank. For some families, the Christmas goodies given out alongside standard food parcels will be their only treat this Christmas.

Last Christmas Leeds South and East Foodbank distributed food parcels to 1500 people across South and East Leeds and it looks like we will seeing similar numbers if not higher this year.  Our aim is to collect 2000 seasonal items in the run up to Christmas to ensure everyone can have some festive treats.

Local people facing bleak times this Christmas will be given food parcels containing mince pies, puddings, tinned ham, chocolates and other festive treats alongside the standard emergency food parcel items. The food bank partners with frontline care professionals, such as health visitors, social workers and other community-based support workers, who are able to identify people in crisis and refer them to the food bank.

Leeds South and East Foodbank Operations Manager Wendy Doyle says: ‘Christmas is a very tough time to be hungry – it’s cold and it is heart-breaking to know you cannot give your children a Christmas treat when everyone else is celebrating. Hidden behind closed doors there are many Leeds families with little to look forward to this Christmas, the good news is we can all help. We hope that the people of Leeds will join our Christmas campaign to give local people with little to look forward to a happier Christmas.’

We will be giving out food parcels throughout December, so the earlier we receive donations, the more time it gives us to distribute food to those in need.

You can DONATE FOOD HERE or, if you prefer, DONATE MONEY HERE and we’ll do the rest.

Thank you for your support.
