ONE THOUSAND CHRISTMAS PARCELS APPEAL 2023

We are pleased to advise that with our donors generous support we were able to provide 1494 Christmas Food Parcels during December 2023. Our grateful thanks for your contributions over the festive period, they made a huge difference to the people we support. Thank you.

Current projections suggest that we shall be asked to provide in excess of 1,000 food parcels throughout December in the lead up to Christmas. This will be a 30% increase on previous years at a time when food donations have dropped considerably, due to the recent cost of living crisis.
Our eleven Foodbanks which serve the communities of South and East Leeds have seen unprecedented demand, but with your donations, we want to help all those families who are facing a food crisis this Christmas.
The people who we provide for have been referred to us by professional support agencies. They don’t want to use the Foodbank, they need to, and are deserving of our help.
Wendy Doyle, our Foodbank Operations Manager says: “We’ve managed to continue providing food parcels throughout the year, but stocks are reducing. Ideally, we’d like to be in a position during December to provide one of our regular food parcels, supplemented with some Christmas additions, such as tinned meat, biscuits, Christmas pudding and the like, along with something for the kids, so that everyone can experience a little Christmas spirit. It’s been a challenging year for the Foodbank, but with the generosity of our supporters, we hope to deliver on our ‘One Thousand Christmas Parcels Appeal’.”
We have ‘tweaked’ our Donation Wishlist’s to reflect the festive season and as the vast majority of our users do have children, we have also included selection boxes, chocolates and sweets.
We will be giving out food parcels throughout December, so the earlier we receive donations, the more time it gives us to distribute food to those in need. Our ’One Thousand Christmas Parcels Appeal’ is a tough target, but with your help, we can do this. Thank you for your support.
